Happy Birthday Jessicat!

We are off to the zoo shortly, so just a very quick post to record for posterity that Jessicat has reached the grand old age of 1! And despite sniffles, PND (mine :(), lots of disturbed nights and lots of difficult days, there have been moments of such joy and love that they take my breath away. Here's to the next year being even better!

I wanted to say that the last year has been a joy on the whole. Yes, Jess was difficult to start with (colic etc) and Val has been up and down, especially at the start, but there have been some amazing moments.
Little things sometimes bring such happiness that I end up blubbing like an idiot...sometimes it's just a smile or a cuddle. There is an overwhelming love that completely absorbs you as a parent and consequently you can put up with the continuous feeling of being knackered or even 7 hours constant crying (Jess).

The last year has been an amazing experience and I have a fantastic family that I love with all my heart.
It feels like a double celebration. We are celebrating Jessica's 1st year, the way she has developed and grown but we are also celebrating Val and I getting through the difficult first months and feeling more in control at this stage than we did at the beginning. I'll drink to that!

Jessica loved the zoo on her birthday. She gets totally consumed by excitement; so much so that her body goes rigid and she starts kicking out her legs and making excited noises.
She loved the monkeys and the aquarium in particular. She roared at the lions, hissed at the snakes and made the sign for ducks and mouthed like a fish! Great stuff. We will be going back!

I hope that the next year brings us as much joy as the first. Who knows, I might even get back into music and films a little? Never mind if I don't though. I've still got books!!
